Review of Mulan (1998) by Matt F — 05 Nov 2011
I enjoyed this movie. I think that one of the things I liked most in this movie was the analogy between Mulan and the cherry blossom. After Mulan's incident with the Matchmaker, while she is sitting with her father, he notices a blossom that hasn't bloomed yet and says that when it does, it will be the most beautiful of all.
This is like Mulan, because even though she failed the Matchmaker, she still saved China and just 'bloomed' a little after everyone else. However, I didn't like that while Mulan was a man, she was respected, but when it was revealed she was a woman, she was not listened to.
