Review of Mulan (1998) by Leslye P — 15 Mar 2018
Released in 1998, Mulan portrays parts of Chinese culture and is accompanied by various teachings like loyalty, gratitude, courage, bravery and rebellion.
The first part of the film is totally male chauvinist, shows Mulan striving to be accepted by her family and society and about Mulan trying to be framed in the model of woman of the Imperal China and servant of the house and husband. And when she fails, she grieves for bringing dishonor to her family but Mulan is strong, healthy and athletic, she poses as a boy in the Imperal army to save her father's life.
The film has a lot of merits that show a woman in a exclusively male role and that despite going against everything and everyone, manages to excel, win and be know by her teammates, superiors and the crowd that sees her in action.
She is recognized and accept by everyone except her family.
