Review of Mud (2013) by Anthony S — 24 Dec 2013
Warm, engrossing coming-of-age tale that benefits from excellent performances, particularly by Tye Sheridan as a young teenager who learns about love, disillusionment, and hope. The whole affair feel underdeveloped and overlong, but crisp cinematography and some well-written scenes overcome the indie-aesthetic of Jeff Nichols' direction.
