Review of Mr. Turner (2014) by David R — 10 Nov 2014
Gives little-to-no insight into the artist's motivations and inner life, doesn't provide visuals to do justice to its subject matter, doesn't provide a propulsive narrative, and feels longer than Return of the King.
Timothy Spall delivers a typically fine performance in what's otherwise a waste of time for anyone but the most committed fan of mild-mannered period pieces, or a Turner biographer.
