While Timothy Spall delivers an absolutely masterful performance, I don't feel that the film went anywhere. Turner wanders around, grunting and occasionally painting, but there was no sort of narrative, yet alone narrative cohesion.
It was a string of very occasionally interesting vignettes that fell a little flat. But, I was not bored, all thanks to a brilliant performance by Timothy Spall. He is masterful!
