Review of Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation (1962) by Byron B — 14 Mar 2013
A unique quirky take on contemporary families in the early 60's and although in many regards the film plays it safe & a little cutesy it had a few clever boundaries pushed for it's time.
I liked the sense of style the film had & the real 60's feel it had just worked for the film, despite it's overall plot being uncertain the film was entertaining and fun to watch.
James Stewart was great as the good hearted but struggling Dad and many scenes in this film are quite funny & fresh. An interesting study of a dysfunctional family on an awkwardly entertaining holiday.
