Mr. Hobbs Takes a Vacation falls in the back half of James Stewart's career, and it also falls in the front half of the 'dysfunctional family vacation' genre. Of course, if you've seen the essential ones before seeing this, chances are you may not find much distinction.
But the second collaboration between mid-50s James Stewart and Harvey director Henry Koster has enough charm and comedy to drive this early vacation genre flick.
