If "Deeds" was remade as a modern-day indie instead of an Adam Sandler vehicle, Cooper and the denizens of Mandrake Falls would probably be your usual assortment of small-town kooks with something to teach the big-city folk.
Thank goodness there were no arthouses in 1936. An altogether enjoyable, if predictable, romp due to Cooper's unfailing affability.
