Review of Mr. Church (2016) by Tony I — 18 Dec 2016
The 'professional' critics especially Richard Brody and Odie Henderson prove how completely out of touch and inane they can be. Far from being repugnant, this film while not a cinematographic masterpiece by any means is a subtle, but touching story of people who come together to form a family.
Eddie Murphy's performance stands out and is spot on and understated just as it should have been. The incredible discrepancy between the audience score and the critics score just goes to show that many (not all) critics can't accept a premise and just sit back and try an enjoy a little, pleasant story like this one.
