Review of Morgan (2016) by Ray N — 01 Sep 2016
I guessed the twist at the end within the first 10 minutes of the movie. There was no main character. The defining moments of the plot were not clearly communicated at all. Not in a good mysterious way.
In a poorly directed way. For whatever reason the very large man played by Chris Sullivan, and another athletic looking young male character played by Boyd Holbrook were both pathetic wimps who would probably be beat up by an 8 year old.
While the 2 most fragile looking and small-in-stature women in this movie are unexplainably military-grade badasses. The fight scenes are garbage and look as if it was a school film project. In a getaway scene, a car drives through a huge electric operated fence guarding super classified government intel at maybe 60mph.
Poorly directed movie altogether. Anya-Taylor Joy, who plays Morgan, did an exceptional job and deserves a lot of praise for her performance in this movie. Paul Giamatti also makes an appearance in this movie for a short while and probably is the most interesting character in this movie despite being in it for maybe 10 minutes.
Major props to him. With these two great performances, I give it 2/5 stars.
