An expensive American space shuttle disappears while in the care of the British government. James Bond (Roger Moore) traces it to a seedy industrialist with the appropriately sinister moniker of Drax (Michel Lonsdale).

Partnering with Dr. Holly Goodhead (Lois Chiles), Bond must stop Drax before his evil space plot annihilates the human race. Looking to ape the then-recent success of cosmic films like Star Wars and Close Encounters of the Third Kind, Moonraker saddles 007 with one of the most ludicrous stories in the franchise's history.

This film is certainly the height of the Roger Moore era in terms of corniness, but its grandiose camp has a wry appeal that makes one appreciate its goofy fun.
