Review of Moonraker (1979) by Anthony G — 27 Dec 2017
Bond's first real stinker. It has aged badly too. Re-watching it recently I turned it off a couple of times. The film is full or tired one-liners and preposterous (speeded up) stunt-work.
The ending in space reached new heights of suspend disbelief!
The nadir of Bond movies.
Gadgets 1/5 ranging from stupid to silly.
Girls 1/5 Lois Chiles.
As Dr. Holly Goodhead. Another silly name but she is just a bland sidekick.
Villain 2/5 Richard Kiel.
As Jaws provides comic relief this time and is a lot less menacing than in the previous film, he would not return again. Michael Lonsdale.
As Hugo Drax is fine.
Bond Theme 3/5 Bassey's third and final Bond theme is her weakest.
