Review of Monster's Ball (2001) by Kevin C — 31 Jan 2009
So sad that I can never watch it again, but it is powerful and real.. It deals with suicide, racism, depression, the death of your husband, the death of your child, being destitute and having the worst things that you can possibly imagine happen to you in your life .
.. an intersection of characters that are involved in each other's lives to a profound effect, but not necessarily in a good way... It smacks of people who have been scarred beyond belief by life, trying to cope with the pain by being together.
I loved this movie, but I cry way too much every time I see it that I cannot watch it again. It is heart-breaking and soul crushing! Do not watch this movie if you are depressed, it will push you over the edge!
