Review of Monster's Ball (2001) by Solo C — 28 Dec 2013
Billy Bob gives an excellent performance without the predictable cheesyness. A couple brought together through circumstances, and love prevailing as each subtly accepted each others sins. Thoroughly beautiful film, although you need to pay attention to the body language, especially of Billy as he communicates in a calm measured way of a middle aged southern man, who had dark experiences.
Halle complements him by her almost immaturity and inexperience, yet brutal life. Therefore he needed to take of her. This film is certainly not for amateurs.
