Review of Monster House (2006) by Eva Marie L — 13 Apr 2012

For kids - 5 stars. Adults - 4 stars for a kids movie.

I'm surprised the reviews aren't better for this. I'd never even heard of it before seeing it in a truck stop last week. My daughter had a Rewards Card for $50. that I didn't want to waste so she found this among some other things. From just looking at the cover and reading the description I figured the most we'd get was 'okay'. We got more than that.

We've watched it twice do far and it's one of the few kids movies I can watch and actually enjoy. It's not just for "tweens" - my daughter is 6 and lived it. She's a bit mature for her age so I guess I wouldn't recommend it for the average 6 year old - but I would say that, at that young age, the patent should be aware.

But the ending is fantastic and totally explains everything "scary" that happens prior.

Personally, I really liked it and will watch it again when my daughter asks. She loved it and she's more of the target audience age than me so that says something.

What I'd recommend is this - don't take any review into account - not mine and not anyone else's. Normally I wouldn't say that but here I will. Check it out and see for yourself.

I wouldn't pay new movie price myself but if you find it used for under... say, about $8. I'd get it.
