Review of Monster House (2006) by Iker J — 20 Nov 2018
Monster House is a genuinely original animation film that takes the troupes of the childhood haunted house and turns it upside down. There are a lot of moments that are too conventional, but overall this is one of the better animated films out there.
The concluding story beats are quite heartfelt, and this is how all films should be made, having a connecting story is one of the hardest things to accomplish in modern cinema thanks to the juggernaut that is capitalism.
Dan Harmon shows considerable writing talent here and Gil Kenan crafted a film that is distinct and fun, just a shame this film didnâ(TM)t catch on like some of the other animated film out there. The film is no classic, but it is one the adults will enjoy as it showcases the combination of fun and storytelling.
