Review of Monsieur Hulot's Holiday (1953) by Ann D — 17 Jul 2009
At times hysterical. some of the vignettes fall flat. basically hit-or-miss. the recurring musical theme is just obnoxious, perhaps intentionally so. I found it overall amusing but responded better when hulot was clumsy unintentional and oblivious as opposed to an impish troublemaker.
also intriguing to see a big inspiration for punch-drunk love.
