Review of Monsieur Hulot's Holiday (1953) by Bryan L — 27 Feb 2011
Mr. Hulot's Holiday is a prime example of a dying breed in cinema. Tati (Hulot) always seems to elegantly stumble upon catastrophe in a never ending circle of comic genius. The humor lies in the actions of people and not in dialogue which plays a very small role in the film.
This is a movie of timing and circumstance not punch lines and social references. Shot for shot Mr. Hulot's Holiday is better than any comedy you will see today. A+.
