Review of Monkey Shines (1988) by Zane T — 15 Jan 2009
Monkeys aren't as bad as chimps or baboons, but they still bite. If you want to see a movie about a crazy primate, go rent Shakma if you can find it. George Romero presents a movie about a quadriplegic played by Jason Beghe (now no friend to the Church of Scientology) and his monkey Ella played by Boo.
This is a horror movie with little horror and little gore. Most of the violence happens off screen. It's not as good as it could be because the acting is so-so and there are subplots that go nowhere.
This is like Play Misty for Me where the psycho woman is a monkey.
