Review of Mommie Dearest (1981) by Nancy C — 07 Apr 2013
4/5 Finally seen it, done very well (if not scarily accurate) about a controlling mother who loves her daughter so much she wants to subject her to the harsh realities of life early so as not to spoil her...Geez, sounds like my mother! ;D.
Love the scenes of the haircut and taking away the dolls (check), the "life is not fair" (check), the finger-wipe checking of the dust (check), cleaning your plate (check - I have sat all nite before with food in my mouth not swallowing), a little-friendly competition (check), no wire hangers (check - all mine are plastic), no shoes in the house (check)...etc etc!
Wonderfully crazy movie with shit you can't make up! Haha, not sure why some of the audience was laughing, perhaps they couldn't relate to such a supposedly spectacle. Hmmm...might've been better if seen without distractions (shouting/etc as fun as they were). Tough love at its best/worst!!
