Review of Molly's Game (2017) by Sardar S — 31 Dec 2017
The oh so witty rapid fire dialogue gets tiresome within the first half hour of this debut effort from Sorkin. He seems to have forgotten that the West Wing is over. Chastin is fine, but probably more beautiful than great in the lead.
She's like Julia Roberts in her beauty hey day - so bomb shell hot its hard to tell if there's any acting going on or we are all just in a beauty daze. The main problem is that spending two hours watching vapid people behave vapidly is hardly a great outing to the movies.
Kevin Costner, who is usually a yawn, delivers the best performance in the film and brings the only depth to an otherwise forgettable film. Maybe Sorkin just needs to stay in the writing room and leave the directing to others.
While Moneyball was nothing less than sublime, I left this movie muttering two words, "Who cares?".
