Review of Molly's Game (2017) by Greg C — 07 Jan 2018
This one must've had a screenplay the size of an old Atlanta phone book. I could do with more films from the Aaron Sorkin playbook. The characters are smart. The film assumes that the audience is smart (or can one day hit pause rewind).
It is blazingly fast dialogue. Jessica Chastain plays it so quick witted and yet vulnerable. Kevin Costner is a niche industry of complex dad supporting roles. There are story arc issues and unfinished threads, possibly from playing too literal to Molly Bloom's autobiographical tale.
This one is a full house.
