Review of Molly's Game (2017) by Morty_Mcflay — 25 Nov 2019
A phenomenally well-written Sorkin script, full of his trademark wit and snappy dialogue, complimented by two amazing performances by Chastain and Elba and an interesting, entertaining story adds up to a two and a half hour movie that doesn’t feel like it at all.
It’s got a legitimately affecting emotional through line as well as more good laughs than some comedies nowadays. There’s an argument to made that this movie is overwritten or choppy in its storytelling, and I’d disagree, but I can see why people might say that.
But honestly, even I did believe that, it wouldn’t matter that much to me. It’s so entertaining and so immersive that these (potential) flaws are insignificant in my mind.
