Review of Molly's Game (2017) by Lawrence C — 10 Jan 2018
I was drawn in by the trailer for this film, which seemed like an exciting and sophisticated film with a stimulating story. I was really disappointed. Jessica Chastain is completely mis-cast as the sexy and ambitious protagonist and her pouts and tits (which are heavily featured and given tonnes of screen-time) unfortunately made more of an impression on me than her performance.
One of those rare films that actually cause me to want to leave the cinema early (which I would have.....but my girlfriend didn't let me as she always likes to finish everything no matter how torturous!) I kept waiting for the story to really kick off and start getting juicy.
...but it never did. Such a pity. Just plain dull.
