Review of Mission: Impossible - Rogue Nation (2015) by Allen G — 22 Apr 2016
We should all almost certainly be sick of the Mission Impossible franchise by now but it's a testament to how well-executed they are that, not only does this fifth installment keep the franchise well and truly alive, it does so with so much energy that it may simply never stop.
Say what you will about Tom Cruise but his Ethan Hunt is an action-movie powerhouse and, whilst I'm still not entirely sold on Simon Pegg's comic relief, I am completely sold on the ridiculous action sequences and completely over-the-top villains.
It's really just a very good pre-Daniel Craig James Bond movie without all of the smut. Its main appeals are some giant action set pieces and a ruthless generic villain and everything is executed so well that it's hard to be disappointed. It's a popcorn movie for sure and it's rare to find ones at such a high level of quality these days. Bring on Mission Impossible 6, why not!?
