Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Dunnyone — 13 Nov 2016
This crap film does not deserve a full review, so here's the pros and cons in lieu of that. But, if you just want to see Sam Jackson chew a bowl of children's eyeballs while British mutants fight off Slenderman (almost quite literally the film copies the Slenderman design), then this is the film for you.
PRO:
- Above average flying bimbo gets wet quite often.
- Sam Jackson looks like he's having fun as he chews through the scenery.
- I, uh...
CON.
- Some of the worst acting I've seen in a film recently.
- Awful special effects.
- The mutants, sorry peculiars, don't really have powers, they are more like random things such as shooting out bees or being retarded. They act retarded, so I'm gonna call them retarded. - Sam Jackson and a bunch of his jolly friends eat a bowl of kids eyeballs (not sure if this is good or bad yet).
- The enemy mobs are QUITE EFFING LITERALLY clones of Slenderman. Serious wtf, are we not supposed to notice this blatent rip off.
- the acting on the main kid is pungent, as if he is in a green screen room away from the rest of the cast.
- I hate Ms. Peregrine's stupid hair.
- The plot was made up on the fly it seems. None of it makes a lick of sense. Time travel, WW2, Mutant powers, Slenderman, poor special effects, none of it makes sense.
Tim Burton needs to stop making films. After Beetlejuice, Edward Scissor Fingers and Batman, his karma ran out. Please stop Tim, you're a hack.
