Review of Miss Peregrine's Home for Peculiar Children (2016) by Whiskeystories — 11 Jan 2018
Dull and surprisingly quite banal. Thinking about this film makes me quite angry, because it made my apprehensions true, that Tim Burton has completely lost his touch. He hasn't made a quality live-action film since Sweeny Todd, and that might even be stretching it.
The source material is not that amazing, but Burton in his prime probably could have made it great. The only good that Miss Peregrine offers is very few sparks of true originality very far between and an enjoyable performance by Eva Green.
