Review of Misery (1990) by Daniel S — 11 Jun 2010
Rob Reiner directs his second Stephen King adpatation. I cannot find fault with this film as every aspect of it is perfect. It has comic scenes, serious scenes and scenes that make your bones cringe with pain.
Many people will not agree and I am not even sure if this was Reiner or King's intention but this movie represents everybody's relationships and shows a unique perspective on love in general. It shows people's frustration and anger towards love.
Also, in every relationship in which you have slip ups and arguments, you feel inside exactly how Annie feels and shows physically in her aggression towards Paul. This is shown particulary well in the sledgehammer scene and the major fight scene in the end of the film.
