Review of Mimic (1997) by Movie K — 20 Apr 2009
Whoa, I didn't know that this movie spun a trilogy. This movie in words sounds good, but put onto screen it lacks the factor. It is about an outbreak of a virus spread by cockroaches. Mira Sorvino genetically created a new insect hybrid that kills cockroaches.
They were design to last only 180 days and will auto die out. But 3 years later these hybrid were actually breeding and have mutated into super large and mimic human with a shell that resemble a face.
They found the nest in the old subway underground. In the end, Jeremy Northam hack the gas pipes and cause sparks to blow up the whole breeding ground. He jumped into the water and survived. The problem is there isn't much thrill or action, and the ones with action is either too dark and snappy cuts or weak in the deliver.
This movie could have done much better.
