Review of Mighty Aphrodite (1995) by Steph O — 26 Aug 2010
When a man realises the son he adopted is a genius, he tracks down the child's biological mother (assuming she too is intelligent) and finds out she is a prostitute. Bizarre movie, but pretty amusing.
Helena Bonham Carter plays a different character than I usually see her playing. It was interesting. I like her in general. Mira Sorvino as the prostitute is good. The way she says disgusting things in such a matter-of-fact, upbeat sort of way was funny.
Oh, the scenes where these people performing a Greek tragedy and sort of narrate the whole story are pretty funny too. So completely random. This movie made me laugh... but it's nothing special really.
