Review of Mighty Aphrodite (1995) by Michael S — 13 Feb 2013
I am such a fan of Woody Allen (or was such a fan, I guess, since every film afer "Sweet And Lowdown" has seemed truly adrfit and unfocused to me) that I tend to forgive most of the traits that drive his detractors mad.
While still a very funny venture, however, I am distracted by this particular entry's self-serving nature toward its creator. There's something about following this little man into awkward temptations and obsessions about the mother of his adopted son.
.. it just seems desperate to make us see Allen in such a heroic and selfless way. And the fact that he gets the girl anyway feels tasteless. But its funny!
