Ambitious, a bit overlong. Uneasy mixture of real footage from World War II and films from the WW2 era, combined with scenes from 1976, doesn't always work, the time difference is quite apparent. Remarkable cast.
The personal dramatics are quite unnecessary and Edward Albert Jr should have been left out completely. He never could act, and never will be able to act. Charleton Heston does his usual overacting in a bad way.
However, there are some rather well done scenes, and being a WW2 buff, enjoyed that aspect of it.
