Review of Midsommar (2019) by Viniciussawate — 20 Apr 2021
Midsommar is a very brave film in trying to overcome it's own ambition, and it leaves a strong impression on the public, despite everything. Even if the narrative comes and goes, an act of brutality at the beginning plants a feeling of discomfort that only grows by the minute, and ties it all up by embracing pure hysteria, with a noisy, comical and rather strange conclusion.
Shocking and confusing the audience between laughter and disgust seems to be the goal and only a film that's essentially confusing to deliver it on a platter. The taste may be strange but it's also, in a way, unique.
