Review of Midsommar (2019) by Jakech — 06 Oct 2019
Liked Hereditary so was looking forward to this. Very disappointing. Cue lots of disjointed violin music and unsubtle, repetitive and unconnected vignettes of unsettling, bizarre behaviour with no escalation of tension.
Don't know what to do? Insert weird behaviour. Plot going nowhere? Create shocking visual. With some terrible acting from extras; unlikeable main characters; predictable plot - and unintended laugh-out moments - this is a film that feels forced, lost and doesn't know how to end.
Oh, I know! Insert an unsettling visual.
