Review of Midnight Special (2016) by Jess B — 01 Jul 2016
Whatever Jeff Nichols is doing, it seems I'm buying it. He has a go at sci-fi and he manages to grab hold of the same panoramic, sepia beauty that he gave us in Mud and Take Shelter and includes similar understated, sensitive, masculinity for the characters of his male leads and supporting male actors.
His child-adult relationship plots are not yet boring, I wonder if indeed he has to cope without one in the film of his that I haven't seen; 'Loving' I look forward to finding out.
