Review of Midnight Special (2016) by Heather M — 17 Aug 2016

Midnight Special is one of those smaller movies that came out that actually caught my eye quite a bit. It is a small and closed film that feels very intimate as well. It is a very well done story as well that doesn't feel too big as well. It has a nice and interesting narrative as well with a lot of mystery surrounding it. And slowly does the film show its true self.

This is a story of a young boy who has these strange powers that only work when it is at night. He had a family as well who had taken care of him too, but when the boy's powers are unleashed the family quickly starts to realize that there young boy doesn't really belong with them and rather should help him find his home, but as they try to get him home the government soon is after him and wants to take him away and lock him up.

The entire cast of this film is great with people like Micheal Shannon, Joel Egerton, and a big applause to Adam Driver who I loved in this movie. After Star Wars and this I can defiantly say Adam Driver is a awesome actor. He can do the big budget movie and be all loud and boisterous, but he can also be really intimate as well. He is defiantly a strong performer in this film and should be noted as that.

Overall I came out of this film really enjoying myself. It was a nice intimate ride I would defiantly want to take again.
