Review of Midnight Special (2016) by Charlemagne — 07 Jun 2016
Lens flare and vagueness substitute for substance (I used to call this kind of vagueness 'mystery', but real mystery is inspiring and creates a sense of wonder). The supposed sci-fi is just a MacGuffin for a boring fugitive movie.
You no doubt wonder why there was no explanation... it's because they have no explanation for you. This is the new Emperor's New Clothes of film-making. You are impressed because you think you are supposed to be impressed.
Well played Hollywood.
