Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Sean O — 22 Jun 2008
Wow this film makes Trainspotting look like a Disney film, Midnight Express is the true story of Bill Hayes, a young man who just wanted to bring some weed home to America from Turkey at a cheap price, big mistake.
Bill is caught at an airport and is put in prison for 4 years before he is sentenced (apparantly how they do it in Turkey, even today.) he is expected to be released after the 4 years but the judges decide to make an example of him and charge him with smuggling and give him a life sentence of 30 years.
The news leads to a complete change in Billy, i'm not going to spoil what happens though. Brad Davis is fantastic in this and i'm suprised i've not seen him in anything else. Brilliant film.
