Review of Midnight Express (1978) by Valosagutas — 24 Nov 2022

Have you had a friend who loved to exaggerate anything that happened to him? Like, he was just bit by a mosquito but he told you how a rabid dog bit him while he was sleeping in his house then his house started to be on fire, and then a mega earthquake shake his house and while he running away a ship fell on him. This movie is over exaggeration so much it's like a surreal dream that tries to make Turkish people seem like mindless barbarians just for the sake of an interesting movie.

Though another reason why this movie is an exaggeration is it's based on the real story of Billy Hayes but even he said this movie is very overly exaggeration of what happened.

In real life, Turkish people are known for being hospitable and crime doesn't change that fact. Due to Turkish culture; Turkish people got used to lots of diverse races, religions, et cetera, even sexuality even way before the USA existed yet this movie tries to portray Turkish people as they are racist and in general they behave like orcs from The Lord of the Rings books. How a Muslim country can treat people that bad? That's another point of why this movie doesn't make sense therefore it's anti-Turkish and anti-Islam propaganda.

In any Muslim country as long as you don't rape and sell drugs to kids no one has a reason to treat you that bad, yet, actually this movie seems like a broken reflection of the USA and Americans are projected with the image of Turkish people.

In this movie Turkish people actually don't speak Turkish. Instead they talk like caveman therefore this is another reason why this movie makes fun of Turkish people and it's a racist movie.

The movie actually wasn't shot in Turkey because Turkish people didn't allow it since how racist the movie is. I bet whoever came up with this story never even met with any Turkish people. Since I know its producers were British I want to develop a movie and portray British people as damn villagers who still uses horses and swords just to cut off any heads they can find on the road, take in tea via their veins as their only source of food and drink and they have sex with pigs LOL.
