Review of mid90s (2018) by Kellyanne H — 29 Oct 2018
I appreciate the depth of each character and each person's development. That excitement / scared element of childhood was very well portrayed, and the movie was nostalgic and made you think. The mother is infuriating, dismissing Stevie's friends while she's negligent and allows her older son to abuse Stevie.
You also get hints that the older brother was abused in the past too. Many scenes will make you wonder where the hell is she. Those kids were more family than his mother or brother, and their parents weren't around either.
Then again, this was the height of the latchkey kid era, so it's no wonder. I do wonder if Jonah Hill based any of the characters off himself. The characters and the acting were brilliant.
