Review of Metal: A Headbanger's Journey (2005) by Jeff I — 26 Feb 2009
I am a very big metal fan myself and I thought this documentary did the genre justice. Sam did a great job of covering a lot of ground and breaking down metal's history and all the different sub-genres of metal music.
The film also touches on controversial topics such as religion, death and the negative attention that is usually connected with heavy metal music. I also thought he did a good job interviewing the different metal performers from metal pioneers such as Ronnie James Dio (Dio) and Tony Iommi (Black Sabbath) to modern day icons such as Corey Taylor (Slipknot) and Angela Glassow (Arch Enemy).
I would highly recommend this documentary to any serious metal fan.
