Review of Men in Black (1997) by Brandon L — 26 Jan 2013
Part spoof, part action thriller, all sci-fi alien comedy. This is a modern classic you must see. Everyone believes aliens have visited Earth and the government covered it up, right? Right? Well, this takes it to a whole new level, as a top secret division of the government called MIB not only covers up alien activity, they handle alien negotiations, alien immigration, etc.
Will Smith stars as a former cop who is recruited by an overly dry, stubborn and experienced agent played by Tommy Lee Jones to join the MIB right as an alien crisis forces the agents into action. The whole government covering up aliens thing has been done before, but usually in a conspiracy thriller type movie that often flops.
This movie is hilarious, unique and though predictable at times, you don't mind it as it's ridiculous enough to be very entertaining and JUST believable enough to keep the imagination going long after the credits hit.
You'll never look at a pug or a little girl holding a quantum physics book the same again! This movie is great, a must-see you're sure to watch numerous times.4 stars: Great.
