Review of Memories of Matsuko (2006) by Chris M — 06 May 2013
"Life is meaningless.".
"Hit me or kill me. It's better than being alone.".
"I would trust no one...love no one. Let no one into my life.".
"I did nothing...I barely breathed.".
"Forgive me for being born.".
"A life isn't valued by what one receives, but by what one gives.".
5/5 --- Wow, so many life lessons (or what not to do's) in "Memories of Matsuko." The last 30+ minutes had me tearing up. It's amazing how a person can go thru so much in life, endure so much pain, loss and suffering at one's own fault or fault of others. Tragedy was endless for Matsuko, but she had hope even in the end... she did her best and people took advantage leaving her "tattered and torn". Very well told story and interesting characters, especially her sister/father and her friend Megumi.
A wild wacky ride, also whimsical wonderment, and tough emotional scenes of how people treat others without know the effects... Brilliantly done, very original --- alot of strange cgi blended in with singing, but it works! Quirky!
*Thanks Rob!
