Review of Melancholia (2011) by Chandler K — 27 Nov 2012
This is how the world ends: not with a bang but with the slow grip of depression sucking the meaning out of daily existence until finally we see no point in living.... and then a bang as another planet crashes into the earth.
Well there is many moments that are beautifully shot, and my god the world ending has never felt more real and more bleak, I just cant get the same anything out of it. Much like depression this movie left me feeling empty and tired but confused me with moments of wonder and beauty.
Again von Trier makes his point and fills the audience with the emotions of his movie but who ever wants to be depressed... still l liked this end of the world it felt personal.
