Review of Melancholia (2011) by Guilherme Q — 17 Jan 2013
Gotta admit I love the premise. The execution? Not so much.
It's boring and it tries too hard to push all those feelings at you, but it doesn't work. It's Disguised as profound, but it's shallow. The repeating soundtrack is annoying and the lack of proper communication and realistic behavior is not amusing. Lars Von Trier is good at painting great images, but the presentation is weak and the pacing and development is awful, even if the actors did a good job.
