Review of Melancholia (2011) by Kim M — 07 Mar 2014
Lots of beautiful shots but mainly just meandering and painfully slow to such an extent that I was looking forward to the apocalyptic end.
Would have made a nice short but at 2 hours 15 minutes it's just not that good or watchable. Seeking a Friend for the End of the World is a much better exploration of the same ideas and it baffles me that this is at 77% fresh (certified even) but that's floating around the mid 50s. If you're pretentious, I could see this being a movie you want people to think you like but it's excruciating to actually sit through.
