Review of Melancholia (2011) by Arthur G — 21 Aug 2012
Acting is great, the visuals are great but the writing feels off at points, dialogue and story wise. It's also a little too artsy to be a film about depression. Although Kirsten Dunst is a great actress in this, she doesn't have much of a character.
Maybe that's the point, having depression be the main character but it's hard to have sympathy for her when we can't really connect to her character. Her depression affects everyone around her except me for the most part, and that's the biggest problem with this film or it might be the best part of the movie, I haven't decided yet.
