Review of Melancholia (2011) by Matthew D — 03 Aug 2018
A profoundly sad film.
Lars von Trier's masterpiece. This movie resonated with all the pain and depression I've ever felt in life. Kirsten Dunst's best acting performance is delivered here in Melancholia. Dunst captures a sorrow so profound her whole family misses it. I highly recommend seeing this film by yourself and really appreciating the artistry of the still shots, panning cinematography, and beauty in the sad. Melancholia is so very human and relatable in a quiet world of its own.
