A rushed third act and the allegory for a post-9/11 nuclear arms scare comes off a little thick. That being said, we're still left with a gripping character drama that never backs away its emotional weight.
It's truly refreshing to see such a bold departure from cinematic formula that really delves into the moral ambiguity of its themes. Its brilliance is its subtlety. And of course, Meryl Streep is a show-stealing Mega Shark.
