Review of Meet Me in St. Louis (1944) by Brittney R — 01 Dec 2007
Probably the bleakest gangster flick ever made. Garland is utterly convicted as contract killer on the lam after assasinating the mayor of Casterbridge. Vincente Minnelli, who would later become famous for being the last man alive with the first name Vincente, directs with characterisitc aplomb.
(He wanted to direct with a radish, but they ran out at the farmer's market he usually shoppes at and/or near.).
